Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced the arrest of a man from Rockford after deputies received a call of shots fired on Saturday morning. 

58 year-old Thurman Whitted Junior and his girlfriend were having a domestic dispute.  Whitted entered a bedroom of the home and fired one round from a handgun. The girlfriend and her adult daughter then fled the residence and called the Sheriff’s Office. 

The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was called- and Whitted surrendered about 4 hours after the initial call came in.

Formal charges will be filed once the prosecutor’s office has the opportunity to review the case.
