It's boot season, from scrunch boots to knee-hi boots, they're everywhere!
Here's a few great tips from All You magazine on keeping your boots looking great:
*Slip empty wine bottles (I have enough of those!) into high boots while they're in your closet. That keeps them from falling over and getting creased.
*For salt stained boots-mix one part vinegar with three parts water and blot onto the leather or suede with a cloth, then air dry. Rub leater conditioner onto leather boots to prevent cracking. For suede, use a tooth brush to sweep away any remaining dust and marks and bring the suede back to it's original texture.
Minor aches and pains for your pets aren't something to rush to the vet over, unless of course your pet can't breathe or collapses. Sometimes there's an easy fix for our four legged friends. I found a great article and clipped it for our house!
On a personal note...My vet also recommended a tablespoon of plain yogurt when my dog's tummy is off-balance. He thinks it's a treat, and it usually stops him from eating grass!
So exciting to talk to Trace Adkins this morning! His new album "The King's Gift" will be released Oct. 29th, and it's a Celtic-infused Christmas album (his first Christmas album ever!)
Pre-order the album "The King's Gift" and listen to tracks at http://kingsgift.traceadkins.com/
I love it when artists perform other artists' songs...and Chris Young has re-made one of my favorite Eric Clapton songs! Amazing!
I find it hilarious when so many people I know don't ever measure the coffee their making and then wonder why it tastes like wet garbage!
Here are the four biggest mistakes people make when they brew coffee . . .
1. Using warm or old water. Some people use warm water because they think it helps, but it makes the coffee taste stale. You should always use COLD water for a good, strong taste. And make sure you use fresh water for each brew.
2. Not using enough grounds. Don't skimp. You want two tablespoons of ground coffee for every six ounces of water.
3. Not cleaning your machine right. Most people just wipe it down and rinse the carafe. You need to clean the INSIDE too. Mineral deposits form over time and affect the taste. Fill the water reservoir with one-third vinegar to two-thirds water, and run a cycle.
4. Using old grounds. Make sure your grounds are fresh and have a strong aroma. And if you use the individual pods, keep in mind that they go stale too after a few months . . . even if they're sealed.
You know how much I love animals, and dogs especially! My Petey loves the car...I mean looooves the car, but this little fella Tommy has some insecurities about the ride
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. It’s the time of year when we pay special notice to stats like the fact that 25% of women will deal with violence in her relationship at some point in her life.
That’s a LOT of women.
But now you can help ... and it’s as easy as cleaning out your junk drawer!
The Safety Net project, through the National Network to End Domestic Violence, is asking you to mail in your old, crappy cell phone where they will be recycled or sold, with the money raised going toward empowering victims of domestic abuse.
Join the American Cancer Society Thursday evening, October 17th for Drink for Pink at Chief’s Supermarket on South Cable Rd from 6-9p
I'll be your host while you enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine and food pairings, craft beers, door prizes, and more!
All proceeds will benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer-tickets available at any Chief’s Supermarkets
So one of my friends, who knows I don't like scary movies, told me World War Z with Brad Pitt wasn't too scary and I'd probably like it...hahahahaha! As I sat on our couch with a pillow covering my eyes, I realized I may need to rethink my friendships.
Although Brad Pitt is amazingly Brad Pitt, and (spoiler) ultimately saves the world, even he couldn't salvage this movie for me. The effects were pretty amazing, though the explanation for the zombies was completely non-existant. Just mother nature? Really? And how is it that Nova Scotia remained unscathed?
No worries, though. I've already made plans to ask for fire flares, a knife, and lots of duck tape for Christmas! And maybe tonight I'll sleep...
